Late in the evening on October 25 1997, Jessica Small and Vanessa Conlan hitched a ride out of Bathurst with a stranger. At first, everything seemed copacetic. But the farther they drove into the night, the more agitated the stranger became. Realising that danger was brewing, the girls tried to escape the stranger’s grasp. But only one would walk away and live to tell the tale.
